PeeringDB Support

LibreNMS connects to PeeringDB. It matches your BGP sessions to your peering exchanges.

Enable the integration in the web interface.

lnms config:set peeringdb.enabled true

Optionally add an API key. Without one LibreNMS only collects the exchanges your own ASNs are on. Listing every other network at those exchanges is by far the most expensive call for the PeeringDB API, so it only runs if you have a key. Create one in your PeeringDB account, see their documentation.

lnms config:set peeringdb.api_key <your key>

The scheduler collects the data once a day. To force the collection, run lnms maintenance:cache-peeringdb.

To keep the load on the PeeringDB API low, LibreNMS:

• starts the job at a time derived from your APP_KEY, so installs do not all query the API at the same moment
• waits a random 3 to 30 seconds between requests
• keeps the collected data for 71 hours before it refreshes
• remembers for a week which of your ASNs PeeringDB holds no data for and skips them

A new menu item then appears under Routing -> PeeringDB.
